KB Pomorze signs Memorandum of Understanding with Bechtel Corporation

KB Pomorze is among 12 companies from the industrial construction and engineering sector, with which American companies applying for a contract for the construction of nuclear power plants in Poland intend to cooperate. On Monday, April 25, 2022. at the Residence of the US Ambassador in Warsaw President of the Board of KB Pomorze Sp. z o.o. – Mr. Mateusz Leśniewicz – signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Bechtel Corporation – a partner of Westinghouse Electric Company in the planned undertaking of building the first Polish nuclear power plant. In line with the Polish Nuclear Power Program, Poland plans to build modern, but proven and large PWR-type reactors. The Polish Energy Policy until 2040 assumes that in 2033 the first block of the Polish nuclear power plant with a capacity of approx. 1-1.6 GW will be put into operation. Subsequent blocks will be implemented every 2-3 years, and the entire nuclear program provides for the construction of six units with a capacity of up to 9 GW.
