The History of Fuel Base No. 31 in Gdańsk

Utworzone: 18 February 2026

📜 ca. 1900 – The first fuel storage tanks are built in the Port of Gdańsk. Their riveted shells and brick protective walls are the hallmark of the developing port and the engineering of those times.

🔧 August 2005 – KB Pomorze Sp. z o.o. carries out modernization of the tanks and builds a new network of technological pipelines.

🏗 March 2024 – History comes full circle. KB Pomorze Sp. z o.o., this time on behalf of the current owner UNIMOT TERMINALE Sp. z o.o., performs the demolition of the tanks.

🔹 From their birth in the era of riveted structures, through modernization, to demolition, the tanks at Fuel Base No. 31 represent a piece of the history of Gdańsk’s port and our company.

🔹 As we hold this Base in great regard, we decided to commemorate its history directly at our headquarters. A unique installation has been created on the wall of the KB Pomorze office – alongside archival photographs, we have displayed authentic steel plate fragments preserved from the final demolition. For us, this is not only a sentimental return to our roots, but also a symbol of respect for the engineering of past decades, which now accompanies us every day as we work on new challenges.
